Tekton RIG: The Mobile Workstation System

We’re excited to introduce RIG, the next generation of modular box systems. It launched in October 2026 with plans to expand over time. RIG takes the model from rugged portable storage boxes to a rugged portable workstation. It functions as a mobile workstation built around Tekton’s complete, no-skip tool sets that are organized tightly in precision-cut foam, letting you configure a custom drawer layout that keeps the right tools within inches of your work.

The first wave includes tool boxes in two colors (Lunar White and Slate Gray), foam organizers with tools, organizer bins, dividers, a dolly, a mounting plate, a work top, and replacement latches in multiple colors.

Compatible with L-BOXX

RIG is a premium modular stacking tool box system built on the L-BOXX Contractor platform. RIG is fully Contractor compatible but has upgrades in build quality, features, and accessories. The initial RIG offering will be continuously expanded and enhanced to develop a RIG ecosystem of boxes and accessories that maintain Contractor and L-BOXX compatibility.

The original L-BOXX system is backwards compatible, meaning it can connect to the top of RIG and Contractor boxes. The original system was first launched by Bosch and Sortimo in 2010 and is shared by hundreds of companies, including Tekton since 2023.

A Large Selection of Modular Options

Every drawer in the 5-drawer tool box has interior dimensions of 16.5 x 12.3 x 2.3 inches and has a load capacity of 39 lb. RIG-compatible tool sets in foam and organizer bins are intentionally sized to fit inside that space in smaller interchangeable sections, making it easy to combine different sets and build a custom layout that fits your needs.

Supporting Accessories

Organizer bins and dividers provide more ways to organize small parts and other items needed on the job. The dolly makes a stack highly mobile in work environments with hard-surface floors like a service bay, airplane hangar, or garage. The mounting plate secures RIG tool boxes to a wall or floor (for wall mounting, we recommend only one tool box per plate), and the HDPE work top provides a large, smooth work surface that can be added to or removed from any RIG tool box.

Each outside corner of the tool boxes has a vertical aluminum rail with M6 x 1.0 threaded inserts that can carry up to 16.5 lb., giving you a universal option for mounting your own accessories. We also have plans to develop our own line of corner rail accessories in 2027.

Designed to Fit in a Truck Bed

Every RIG component was designed to fit under the tonneau cover in most truck beds. The largest component is the 5-Drawer Tool Box, which has an overall height of 18.7 inches.

A Continuously Expanding System

This launch marks the beginning of the RIG ecosystem. We’ll continue to expand the lineup with new foam organizers, drawer options, components, and accessories that are compatible with the L-BOXX Contractor and Baseline systems. We currently anticipate adding more than 300 additional tool sets in foam, which will combine into comprehensive tool collections for mechanical work and application-specific collections for various trades, industries, and interests.
